I have this, but definitely not as bad as some other people. When it’s all quiet, I can hear it but I’ve just learned to pretend it’s not there. I KNOW it’s there, but I take absolutely no notice of it and therefore, it doesn’t bother me. I’ve had it for years and I know I’ll have it for many more, but as long as it does not get any worse, I can live with it.
Is there no treatment for it? At all?

there is: a neutron-emplant in your brain to simulate the nerve that is broken (the reason you (and I) hear such a noise).
It’s an experimental procedure (here in Belgium) but it works in several cases.
I must try it, for I am desperate
I have had this for 19 years now. I went to a handful of loud concerts without protection before I got wise and started wearing ear plugs. I swear no one ever told me when I was young that going to a single loud concert could result in permanent hearing loss. Why aren’t children educated about these risks? Even the music at my high school prom was loud enough to leave my ears ringing. Music is much more enjoyable at a reasonable volume and I wish people would quit exposing children to this.
I am 21 and I have tinnitus. It presented itself after I slept on a couch to escape my sister’s loud music. I woke with and ear infection and loud ringing in my right ear. I have tried many things to mask it and have found nothing that helps. It is so severe it causes me to loose sleep. The doctors say it’s nothing and prescribed anti-anxiety medication and sleep aids. I have been this way since March of this year, but the noise seems to have eaten all memory of not having it. Is there no help?

I’m 21, and I’ve had tinnitus my whole life. It presents itself as a steady ringing at one frequency in both ears at the same volume, very even. I know I can hear it all the time, except when I’m at a loud concert or shooting, but it doesn’t seem to get in the way of me hearing with clarity. It doesn’t bother me at all, never has, and I hope never will!

i have dun some experiments on my self. i have found that when i am in places where i have little or no cell phone signal the tone’s in my head and ears change from hi pitch to a low hush! i am not saying that some people may have damaged from loud sounds, what i am saying is i have found a link to frequency’s causing my problems! i remember commercials on tv about tinnitus, strangely enough this was around the times of new commutation satellites being put in orbit among other things!
i’ve had it all my life. mine is a hissing constant sound in both ears. i didnt even know i “had” it until i was quietly praying, it momentarily disapeared then it came back immediately. 4 the moment it stopped i was aware it was gone! it was an answer 2 my prayer-asking 4 focus- it was like God telling me my lack of focus was b/c of this constant hissing. i always thought that everyone had that hissing. i am trying all i can 2 minimize it. i can hear it now.
Definately not. Hypnosis can’t cure physical damage in ear. If it does I will prepare for acid rain and asteroids falling to earth!

I’ve had Tinnitus for about 4 months now, it came on with no warning.
It bothers me mostly at night, but usually I find if I concentrate on the sound of my breathing, rarther on the ringing, it does help me to sleep.
You’d better start protecting your ears before it’s too late. I hated myself for a moment, because i was warned of tinnitus for many times and still headphones in ear and listening to music until i got my tinnitus and hated myself for being so ignorant!
So it is not too late for you to ignore this!

i’ve had tinnitus since i was 11ish
my grandad thought warm olive oil into my ear would help with a wax problem – i agreed and had cotten wool in my ear, i forgot about it and the cotten wool was pushed into the canal :S
i had to have it removed specially as it got logded
it caused the ear drum to get perferated and i’ve had tinnitus ever since
i just got it from a fireworks exsplosion im 13

I am 32 years old and have lived my life since about the age of six, without EVER hearing silence. Hell has a ring to it and silence is as illusive to me as heaven.

how did your tinnitus went away? pls tell me cuz I really want it to go away…I’m so depressed
I’ve had it for many many years… and I was able to live with it until just a week ago when it just suddenly increased in volume.
There has to be a way to reduce the noise!!! I’m only 23 and already considering ending my life
Don’t take chances with your health folks, those little earbuds that come with iPod’s are especially bad for causing this.
don’t do it man, my ringing has increased in volume to, i’m 23 and have had it for over 10 years, don’t give up on life, try relaxing, and i tell you this from experience Jesus really is the prince of peace, suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem, just keep your head up, just know prayer is a powerful thing just believe. you’ll be in my prayers tonight God bless.
I’ve got tinnitus in both ears and can sympathize with you all, you can only truly comprehend how devastating it is until you become a sufferer.
I know exactly how you feel. I’m only 22 and I got it since about 6 months im my right ear. Since then, sometimes it also appears in my left ear and I’m scared to death that it, one day, will stay in the left ear.
I also thought about suicide in the first three months, but thanks to my lovely girlfriend, family and friends I found a reason to go on. Giving up is the easiest way, but not the best, always remember that.
