my mom has had tinnitus for over a year now, its driving her crazy, & i feel really bad for her. i cant imagine having to listen to that all the time. i know there is no cure for tinnitus, & most docs say you have to learn to live with it, that really sucks! we can put a man on the moon, but cant stop the ears from ringing? for one, i wish she would go to the doc, but she doesnt like to go, but it could be something causin it that could be fixed. second, she just bought something called ribo-flavanoid(sp), basically just a vitamin, dont know if its improved yet or not. im wandering if anyone out there who suffers from tinnitus has found any ways to lessen the ringing? or any ways to tune it out? any help would be greatly appreciated b/c it hurts me to see her in such pain and aggravation from this, and knowing she has to live with it. THANKS!
Does Anyone Know If Exercise Or A Chiropractor Can Cure Tinnitus?
Hi , I have had tinnitus for 5 long years now . I have always felt it was due to stress and tension. On Monday while using my easy shaper exerciser my ears suddenly stopped ringing. Sadly the ringing returned a few hours later, but the silence for those few short hours was wonderful . Since the ringing stopped completely for that time , i am certain its not permanent. Has anyone either doctor or patient had any success with a chirpractor?
Anyone Else “suffer” From Tinnitus (ringing Of The Ear(s)!?
The last i remember was about 2 years ago i kept getting sick with a cold or allergies which would case my ears to ring. But they would only ring when i was sick. Then before i knew it i hadn’t been sick for awhile and i still had the ringing after about 3 months. And now it still hasn’t stopped after 2 years it’ll be 3 years before next summer. Anyone else suffer from Tinnitus and have been to the doctors about it? I haven’t yet i’ve gotten so use to it being a part of me 24/7 that is easily slips my mind to make an appointment to see a Ear, Nose, & Throat doctor BUT now i don’t have insurance! I have never tryed anything to see if it goes away.

What Do You Think Happened Here?
An older woman i know has Tinnitus (the ringing in your ears that never goes away) and she said that when she was a little girl about 6 or 7 she got it, she talks about how she went to summer camp that was very traumatizing for her and then went home to meet this new boyfriend of her mothers (her father died when she was a baby) talks about how she was mistreated badly emotionally by this new man (soon to be her stepfather) and her mother, and then just stops talking and goes to like ..the next day, ex. she just says “then the next day after i came back from summer camp i woke up with tinnitus.. strange that it’s right after meeting him..” he was an absolutly terrible man and her mother wouldnt treat her well when she was young either. or even when she grew up. so i’m wondering what happened in that period of time that she isn’t really telling. whenever shes telling us stories she says “summer health camp when i was a kid was terrible, when my mom picked me up from summer camp she brought this new boyfriend that was just awful, we all went home. (and then just seems like she skips a section and says) The next day i woke up with ringing in my ears.” and talks abotu how that was very traumatizing, the thing is it doesnt sound very traumatizing, its like shes skipping a part or something then just goes to the next day that she has ringing in her ears. i think that something happened in that amount of time that was traumatizing because you cant just wake up with tinnitus. it’s caused by loud noises to the ear, and maybe there was a fight or something that night maybe physical abuse that she’s not telling or something. i know its possible to get Tinnitus other ways, but it’s rare in children and she never had any symptoms, and her story just seems…sketchy. something just doesn’t seem right like shes hiding something. what do you think could have happened? know what i mean? she gets all weird when talking about this also, like nervous and doesn’t seem comfortable talking about it. i know for a fact she has many secrets. what do you think?
thanks so much!
Will The Ringing In My Ear Ever Stop?
On Wednesday afternoon I accidently fired a handgun without ear protection. I only fired 3 or 4 shots before I realized I didn’t have ear protection, but I’ve had ringing in my left ear since then. It’s been about 4 days and I’m wondering if this is permanent or not. I read all about tinnitus and how the hairs in the ear bend and send signals to the nerves, but is it possible that the hairs can straighten out on their own? This was the first time I’ve ever done this, any insight?
Ringing In Ears-on Antibiotics, Stilling Ringing?
my boyfriend is on an antibiotic for his ringing in ears, the doctor said he could not see anything, and gave him augmentin, he has been on it for about 5-6 days now. he still has the non-stop ringing, and now feels pain, says the ringing is very loud. it is his right ear.it came on all of a sudden a few weeks ago. is this tinnitus or an inner ear infection-or are they the same thing? will his ringing ever go away. i figured if it was an ear infection the antibiotic would have cleared it up, so i’m afraid it is ear damage, but he is not around noisy stuff for long periods of time, so i’m confused. can ear nose and throat specialists be able to tell him what is wrong for sure, unlike the medical doctor at the clinic?
Ear Pain After High Caliber Gunshot Without Ear Protection?
This past weekend, on Saturday afternoon, I shot a shotgun shell from a rifle. I had shot a few rounds of a 22 at first, being much weaker and not requiring plugs. I don’t know anything about shooting, my friends do, and they were trying to teach me for the first time, but forgot to mention the necessity for ear protection with a higher caliber rifle when they had me try it, and I, being rather stupid at the time, aside from totally unaware of how to shoot or how loud shooting can be, shot without any ear protection. I’m right handed, and so when I shot the rifle I didn’t really have any problem with my right ear (at all), but immediately after firing my left ear went deaf for a few seconds, accompanied by a loud ringing tone. My hearing came back gradually over about one minute but ringing persisted for about two minutes after the shot, and then the ringing came to a complete stop. However, there was a feeling of pressure and fullness in the ear. Although today, Monday night, this feeling of pressure has slightly begun to go away, it is still there, and I’m getting worried. I don’t really think it’s tinnitus because I don’t have any ringing in the ear. In fact the ringing only lasted about one or two minutes before going away completely. I was told that I probably did lose some of my high frequency hearing but that it probably won’t be that bad or noticeable (by the said friends). As of right now my main complaint isn’t that it’s hard to hear out of my left ear, as I can barely distinguish the difference in my ability to hear between my left ear and my right ear. However, my left ear and my right ear FEEL completely different. The left feels as though it’s under pressure, at times full of wax even though it’s not, and generally just not as open as my other ear (like the two ears are out of balance). Also, if I touch the area of my face beneath my ear (behind my jaw and underneath the ear itself), it feels different than if I touch it on the other side, like it’s slightly numb. Visually it does not appear to be swollen; if it is then it’s barely visible. I have tried using cutips to see if I can get at any wax, and I have, but it appears of normal color. I read somewhere that if it’s clear that can be a sign of actual damage. Even after getting the wax out, though, it hasn’t helped much with the feeling of pressure and out of balanceness. I know that the ringing is probably something that would never go away (thankfully that hasn’t occurred at all so far, after the shot), as I’ve read has happened with other people in similar situations (online), but I’m more concerned with my symptoms of pressure and fullness of the ear.
I don’t know what to do at this point. I’m really hoping that in a couple days the pressure will be gone and that my head will at least feel balanced, even if I have suffered some minor hearing loss, which is unfortunately a given I’d imagine, but I don’t know if that’s realistic. Most people complain of ringing in their ears, it seems, after this type of situation, but I have different symptoms.
Has anyone had personal experience with this or have any advice to give?
Is There An Online Program To Stop Tinnitus?
I have a terrible ringing in my ears and the doctor doesn’t seem to be making much progress. While waiting between visits I would like to try some things on my own. Are there any online programs you could recommend?
Ringing In Ears (infection/advil)?
I have been having issues with my ears ringing lately (2 weeks). Here’s some facts:
Started 2 weeks ago after pretty rough congestion
Was taking 200mg advil (I really hope this didn’t make it perm)
Had a minor ear infection with a retracted eardrum
Went to the doctor and got some steroids and antibiotics (1 week ago)
Doctor said it would probably stop ringing soon
Ears are still ringing and the infection is still around. I have never had ringing in my ears like this before. I read up on advil causing it and along with an ear infection that has me concerned. I plan on going to the doctor ASAP, but this still has me concerned.
Here’s my question: Will this horrible ringing every go away, or am I stuck with Tinnitus? Other’s experiences with this would be helpful.
